THE CLIENT

The Client, a high-end machine manufacturer for metal encountered a perplexing situation when their long-standing employee, who had been with the company for 16 years, decided to depart. Due to strategic considerations, the company needed to discreetly find a replacement for the position.

THE CHALLENGES

The client was in search of a candidate who could effectively oversee a team of skilled technicians spanning five different countries, knowing that resistance to change was likely. This niche industry necessitated expertise in managing equipment with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including the widespread use of servo motors. It was evident that headhunting would be necessary to find the right fit for the role.

THE GOALS

Our goal was to ensure a candidate was signed on within 90 days. Upon receiving a requisition from the client, CXL’s Executive Search team scheduled a meeting with the Hiring Manager in order to establish clarity on the MECE (Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive) framework and set expectations. Collaboratively with the Hiring Manager, a comprehensive market mapping exercise was conducted to identify industries and specific company criteria that aligned with the requirements. This involved analyzing the functioning of the machines and assessing the industry’s supply chain dynamics.

THE SUCCESS

Upon adjusting the search parameters, we successfully pinpointed 8 potential candidates from the primary targets, meeting the specified criteria. As a result, we submitted 2 of them to the client. Following successful onboarding of the preferred candidate, the candidate expressed satisfaction and provided positive feedback regarding their new position. We diligently documented the candidate’s feedback on the recruitment process, which was subsequently compiled and presented to clients to drive continuous improvement efforts. Despite the role’s highly technical nature and specialized requirements, we managed to fulfill the requisition in an impressive 47 days, surpassing the initial target of 90 days. This accomplishment serves as a testament to the effectiveness of a well-structured and customized recruitment process, highlighting the importance of seamless communication between the client and candidates for overall process success.
